Iceland Stopover

If you are flying with Iceland Air, you have the great opportunity to make a Stopover in Iceland on your way to your destination in Europe or North America. Without paying any additional airfares, it will be just like having two vacations for one!
Your Iceland Stopover can last one, two, three or more days and there are many things you can do to make the most of your time in Iceland.
Choose from a wide range of day tours to explore Iceland during your Stopover and have the adventures of a lifetime!

I believe there are at least 10 reasons why you should add an Iceland Stopover to your vacation.

Hallgrimskirkja Church Reykjavik

1. HARPA AND HALLGRÍMSKIRKJA

Harpa is Reykjavik’s music hall, a beautiful glass building from which you have amazing views of the harbor and the bay. I love going there to watch the sunset, and they are of course always hosting concerts and shows.
Hallgrímskirkja is Reykjavik’s famous big church on top of the hill downtown. Take some time to go to the top of the tower and enjoy the spectacular view of Reykjavik’s streets and colorful houses, especially nice in sunny weather.

2. THE ICELANDIC HOT-DOGS

Icelandic hot dogs are said to be the best in the world. Made mostly from Icelandic lamb, they are served with ketchup, a special type of mustard, both fresh and fried onions and remoulade. They are a perfect snack after your sightseeing around Reykjavik and they are definitely a must.
They are very popular among Icelanders and tourists alike, try them and you will understand why!

3. ICELAND’S AMAZING SCENERY

You have certainly seen pictures before and I can guarantee Icelandic landscapes do not need filters or photo-shop to look amazing.
Iceland’s glaciers, lava fields, hot springs, icebergs, volcanoes, and colorful mountains will leave you speechless and will make you want to come back to Iceland over and over again.

Geysir Golden Circle Iceland

4. THE GOLDEN CIRCLE

If you don’t mind the crowds, the popular Golden Circle is a great tour for a short Iceland Stopover. You will see some of Iceland’s best wonders: Geysir, beautiful Gullfoss, and Thingvellir National Park, where the North American and the European tectonic plates are drifting apart. Popular but absolutely unmissable!
Check out our amazing Premium Golden Circle Tour to visit all these beautiful places, with a hot surprise!

Blue Lagoon Iceland

5. THE BLUE LAGOON

Not far from Keflavik International Airport, the Blue Lagoon is a great place where you can relax and bathe in Icelandic mineral-rich geothermal water. Grab a drink in the pool and put some silica on your face, to make your Stopover special.
As this is a very touristy place, make sure you book your ticket in advance!
For some sightseeing, I recommend our Premium Reykjanes Tour + Blue Lagoon. This is a great way to explore Iceland’s oldest geothermal area and end the day relaxing in the Blue Lagoon.

6. JOIN SOME EXCITING ACTIVITIES

Glacier hiking, snowmobiling, snorkeling, horse riding, explore lava or ice caves…Iceland has it all.
Make sure you join some fun activity during your Iceland Stopover.

There is a great range of fun activities to choose from to make your Iceland Stopover even more exciting and unforgettable. My favorite? I don’t have one, I think they are all great!

Sailing close to one of these giants is possibly one of the best experiences you will ever live.
